Vörösmarty Theatre

The building with a long history has a leading role in the Hungarian acting. The first brick theatre in the country was founded in 1874.

At the opening ceremony Mór Jókai, Pál Gyulai represented the Kisfaludy Company, László Arany and Ferenc Pulszky the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. According to the records, Róza Laborfalvy told Mór Jókai’s inaugural speech. It has been bearing the name of Vörösmarty Mihály since 1913. The centre of Fehérvár’s cultural life was totally renewed in 2005.
