The former coronation town was in a hurry in the 18th century to rebuild the town after the Turkish occupation. This church was built that time in the 1740s.
The old Franciscan church was consecrated to Saint Emeric, in the middle age and the new age it was the centre of the Hungarian St. Emeric -honour. Above the main entrance the statues of St Anthony and St Francis guarding with his company. During the World War II it was used as a shelter of the local people.
