Construction of the Sacred Heart Church in Székesfehérvár began in April 1910, and thanks to public donations, it was fully completed by September 1911. The solemn consecration was performed by Bishop Ottokár Prohászka on September 17.
The construction was led by prominent local architects Gáspár Fábián and Jenő Bory, making it Hungary's very first reinforced concrete church structure. Built for the residents of Székesfehérvár's Víziváros (Water Town) district, the church has played a central role in local religious life ever since. Although severely damaged during World War II, it was restored in the 1960s and has undergone several subsequent renovations, most recently in 2010.
