Pelikán Court and Gallery

The sign of the gallery is remarkable: a figure is sounding the trombone and pointing at the Pelikán hall. Seasonal, free exhibitions of contemporary artists’ works are organized here. At the beginning of the 19th century the theatre-hall stood on the site of the present court of the building.

Before the Vörösmarty Theatre it had been the centre of the local theatrical life. Déryné Róza Széppataki, Borostyán alias Sándor Petőfi and Lujza Blaha played on its stage. For a long time it was the scene of the summer open-air theatre.
