Besides Visegrád, Fehérvár also was Matthias King’s beloved town, not only his wedding ceremony with Beatrix queen was held here but his funeral as well.

The Gothic-Renaissance memorial for the 500th anniversary of his death almost breaks the atmosphere of the Baroque downtown. The work of art was made by Miklós Melocco, Csaba Masznyik, János Krahling and Attila Kisfaludy. The king’s figure is standing in the middle of it surrounded with his lions, above him the family symbol- the black raven with the ring- can be seen.
