The late, quadratic layout royal castle, which was erected on the former place of the demolished old castle was standing on the spot among the Basa, Bástya streets, the Várkörút and the Országzászló square. The palace walls were parallel with the townwalls.
The reconstructive colourful drawing of the Budai gate and the late royal castle can be seen on the wall of Saint Stephen’s Museum Országzászló Square building, opposite to the MKB bank.
