15. Prohászka-park

We can touch four-hundred year-old walls if we touch the stonewalls of Prohászka Park. These are the real remains of the townwall -on which we can discover old „graffitis”, numbers and letters and the monastery fortress, behind them there is the garden of the Episcopal Place.

While we are walking here we can take a cool rest under the shady almost one-hundred- year- old yew tree and the springtime blossoming tulip tree. Meanwhile, the history is talking: the statues of Ottokár Prohászka Bishop of Fehérvár, Saint Ladislaus King (the statue is the artwork of László Scwalm, he gave the 1.5 m high bronze bust statue to the town for the king’s canonization 805th anniversary) and Ferenc Wathay Constable summon the old times.

Momentous day: St Ladislaus day on 27 th, June. He initiated the canonization of St Stephen king, Prince Emeric and Gellért Bishop. The king has several legends. One of the most well-known: „Ladislau saves the Hungarian girl from the Cuman soldier”. The Hungarian were chasing the raider Cumans in Transylvania. King Ladislau and his army killed immediately four men, then he noticed a Cuman soldier who kidnapped a Hungarian girl. He started to run after him on his horse called Szög (Nail). When he reached the Cuman soldier there was only a spear length distance between them, but he could not catch him. He shouted at the girl to drag him off the horse. She did it and the two men started to fight on the ground. However the Cuman was strong but Ladislaus wounded him on his neck.
